Alice had been looking over his shoulder with some curiosity. `What a funny watch!' she remarked. `It tells the day of the month, and doesn't tell what o'clock it is!' `Why should it?' muttered the Hatter. `Does your watch tell you what year it is?' `Of course not,' Alice replied very readily: `but that's because it stays the same year for such a long time together.' `Which is just the case with mine,' said the Hatter.
- Alice in Wonderland Been wanting to do a good piece of the Mad Hatter for a while now, this seemed like a decent enough concept to work with. I always found what back story you get for the Mad Hatter fascinating. He pissed off Time (the entity) and is now doomed to have eternal tea time, which was why he and March Hare and the Doormouse had the crazy tea party set up. They had no time to wash up or do anything but have tea time. In the book the Mad Hatter seems rather touchy about the subject in general and doesn't wish to discuss what will happen when the tea things run out. I think he's just a bit tired from the whole thing. Anyways, technical details: gouache, watercolors, Faber Castille PITT brush pens, Prismacolor Marker on watercolor paper and some Photoshop magic. Not my strongest piece I know, needs a few tweaks here and there. But I'm happy with most of my work on this piece. Will probably change a few things before I consider it done. Will have the improved version for prints at Oni-Con |
